In 1987 the company hanse chemie set up business in Geesthacht in Schleswig-Holstein, a town with a long tradition as a research centre. It's a rare event for a private firm to be established in the chemical industry. The initial vision turned into a success story: hanse chemie began to develop and market intelligent solutions for superior silicone formulations, and continues to do so today.

In 1997 hanse chemie began intensive research into the field of chemical nanotechnology. The company developed an innovative process that enabled it to produce nano-materials to improve polymer materials – with unprecedented combinations of properties, and on an industrial scale.

In 2006 the company nanoresins was launched as a spin-off from hanse chemie, concentrating on the industrial manufacture and sale of nanotechnological products – with the aim of supplying new growth momentum for modern materials technology thanks to the enormous potential of these high-tech additives.
